Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate search for a fault, by detecting that the end of execution of an input/output microinstruction cannot be transferred to an higher-rank device and then storing the internal state information of an input/output control device plus the discriminating information that shows the microinstruction group of the branching destination. CONSTITUTION:An input/output control device 2 performs various types of controls through a control part 4 based on a microprogram stored inside the device 2. A discriminating information is produced to give a discrimination between the microinstruction group of the branching destination and other microinstruction groups every time when a branching is given to the head microinstruction of one of the plural microinstruction groups that are executing the microinstructions. This discriminating information is stored successively into a register file 5. In case such a fault occurs that cannot transfer the end state information to the input/output instruction to a higher-rank device 1, both the contents of the file 5 and the internal state of the device are stored in a fault analysis storing area. The fault analysis information is readout and is used as analysis information.
