Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase red-hot area, and the calorific value of radiant heat in a combustor, by a method wherein an internal cylinder or a top plate of a combustor is deformed by the thermal expansion, and slight opening where the gas can pass through is formed between the top plate of an external cylinder and a top plate.
CONSTITUTION: When a gas cock 13 is opened, the gas is injected from a fuel injection nozzle 8, as well as from a pilot burner 30. When a pilot burner is ignited in this state, flames ar formed on flame ports 23 and 24 of an internal and an external cylinders 20 and 21, by the air fed from air introducing ports 4 and 17 by natural convection, and combustion is started. Since an internal cylinder 20 is made of the material of which heat expansion coefficient is larger than that of an external cylinder 21, a top plate 25 is pushed upward, and slight opening R is formed between the external cylinder 21 and the top plate 25. The gas is burnt, with a part of exhaust gas heated at high temperature, produced in a combustion chamber 22, circulated and passed through this opening. In this way, the top end of an external cylinder 21 is also red-heated sufficiently, and can efficiently be utilized as the source of radiant heat.
