Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the speed of temperature rise of fluidized bed and to start the fluidized bed economically, by feeding incompletely combusted gas into the fluidized bed after raising the temperature of the fluidized bed to a predetermined level, and then causing secondary combustion of the incompletely combusted gas in the fluidized bed. CONSTITUTION:After raising the temperature of fluidized bed 5 to a predetermined level by means of a starting burner 4 in a preheating furnace 2 which is formed downwardly of a dispersing plate 3, the starting burner 4 is combusted incompletely by restricting the opening of a valve 10 in an air transporting pipe 9a. The incompletely combusted gas thus produced is carried into fluidized bed 5 and a valve 11 is opened in this state for feeding combusting air into the fluidized bed 5. Since, with such an arrangement, secondary combustion of incompletely combusted gas can be caused in fluidized bed 5, it is enabled to raise the temperature of fluidized bed 5 rapidly and therefore to start fluidized bed 5 economically.
