Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable to quickly and easily start the boiler by a method wherein a gas burner is used as starting burner to heat the fluidized medium in a starting cell up to the ignition temperature of coal and the fluidized medium is overflowed in an adjacent fluidized bed cell. CONSTITUTION:At the start of the fluidized bed boiler, a starting cell 2A is supplied with the fluidized medium of the volume nearly as much as that at normal operation. Said fluidized medium is heated up to about 500 deg.C by igniting and burning the gas supplied from a gas header 18 and a gas burner nozzle 18a with a damper 10a in a fluidization air supply duct 9a being held open. Under the condition described above, the pulverized coal as main fuel is supplied from a coal bunker 11 in the starting cell 2A. The supply of the main fuel accelerates the rise of the temperature of the fluidized bed. At this time, the gas supply from the burner nozzle 18 is stopped and the combustion is changed-over to the combustion with the pulverized coal only and the height of the fluidized bed in the starting cell is raised by being supplied with the fluidized medium. Into the adjacent cell 2B, the fluidized medium is overflowedly supplied from an overflow opening 6a formed in a partition wall 3A and the pulverized coal is supplied from the coal bunker 11.
