Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase red-hot area and also the colorific value of radiant heat, in a combustor, by a method wherein slight passage for gas is provided between the upper end of an external cylinder and a top plate, or to the position close to the upper end of a top plate.
CONSTITUTION: When a gas cock 13 is opened, the gas is injected from a fuel injection nozzle 8, as well as from a pilot burner 30. When a pilot butner is ignited in this state, flames are formed on flame ports 23 and 24 of an internal and an external cylinders 20 and 21 by the air fed from air introducing ports 4 and 17 by natural convection, and combustion is started. Especially, as a slight opening R is formed between a top plate 25 and the upper end of an external cylinder 21, a part of exhaust gas at high temperature produced in a combustion chamber 22, burns passing through the slight opening R.
