Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula (CR is cyclic polyether, e.g., 15- crown-5; M is Mg, Ca, Sr, Pb; TCNQ is tetracyanoquinodimethane; n is 1, 2, 3; p is 1, 2; q is 0, 1, 2).
USE: Reactive intermediate of other TCNQ complexes, organic electro-conductive material. The conductivity of the compound of the formula is 101W104 times as high as a simple salt of TCNQ.
PREPARATION: The reaction between a divalent metal salt of TCNQ, an excessive amount of cyclic polyether and, when necessary, TCNQ is conducted in an organic solvent at a temperature of 50°C to the boiling point of the solvent. The insoluble part is removed by hot filtration and the reaction mixture is cooled to precipitate the objective compound. The organic solvent is, e.g., alcohol, aromatic hydrocarbon, ketone, ether, halogenated hydrocarbon or DMF.
