Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve pressure resistance characteristics by improving airtightness with an end surface plate by forming a metallic film over an optical fiber wire and forming a thin metallic layer over it by electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION:A coating 6 is removed where the lead-in part of an optical fiber core 3 is to be formed, a metallic film 8 is formed over its outer circumference by vacuum deposition, sputtering, etc., and the metallic film 8 is used as an electrode to form a thin metallic layer 9 by electrodeposition. The metallic layer 9, after worked as shown in the figure, is inserted into a lead-in hole 15 made in an end surface plate 4b. So that a cone sealing part A is formed between the metallic layer 9 and an end surface 4b, a cap nut 10 is set around the screw part of a fitting wall 16, formed on the end surface plate 4b, and tightened, thus pressing the metallic layer 9 into the end surface plate 4b. Instead of the said method, the layer 9 may be made into a metallic sleeve to pack metal between the sleeve and the metallic film 8 by electrodeposition.
