Abstract

PURPOSE:To contact Ni layer and a steel plate tightly thus to obtain a mask having high small hole accuracy, by making a small hole in an electron deposition layer of Ni alloy while making large hole continuing coaxially with said small hole through a metal deposition layer placed between the electrodeposition layer and a steel plate and said steel plate. CONSTITUTION:The section of the shadow mask consists of three layer structure, an Ni layer 1 having a small hole 4 which is important for positioning the electron beam, a steel plate 2 which and an in-between metal electrodeposition layer 3 having a large hole 5 connecting with small hole 4 is more etchable by an etching liquid than Ni layer 1 while less etchable then the steel plate 2. Said composite mask has Ni layer 1 deposited on one surface of the steel plate 2 other than the portion corresponding with the small hole 4 while a large hole 5 is made on the other surface of the steel plate 2 by etching. Consequently the tightness is considerably improved and the accuracy of the small hole can be improved without peeling Ni layer.
