Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A free fatty acid is reacted with an acyl coenzyme synthetase (acyl CoA sybthetase) in the presence of adenosine triphosphoate (ATP) and a coenzyme A (CoA) to form an acyl coenzyme A (acyl CoA) in the first reaction system. A pyrophosphatase is then added to the system as the second reaction, and the formed pyrophosphoric acid is converted into orthophosphoric acid, which is then rapidly removed from the reaction system to complete the reaction rapidly. The resultant acyl CoA is then reacted with an acyl CoA oxidase to form hydrogen peroxide, which is then reacted with an acyl CoA oxidase to form hydrogen peroxide, which is then colored and determined by the coloring method. Thus, the free fatty acid is determined.
