Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate an error due to the nonlinear voltage characteristics of a resistance in a parallel comparison type A/D converter by forming resistances, applied with a reference voltage, in an epitaxial layer and by giving the entaxial layer the same potential gradient as those of the resistances. CONSTITUTION:In an epitaxial layer 22 formed on a p type substrate 21, p type impurities are diffused to form diffuses resistances R1-R16. The resistances R1-R16 are connected in series to a reference voltage source 6, so that reference voltages to be applied to a comparator are obtained from connection points of those respective resistances. A voltage source 23 and a resistance 30 are connected to the epitaxial layer 22, which is given the same potential gradient as those of the resistances R1-R16. Consequently, reverse bias voltages between the resistances R1-R16, and the epitaxial layer are all equal with regard to all resistances, and errors of the resistances are eliminated.
