Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the axis alignment precision of optical fibers by providing a recessed part having a fiber storage groove and guide grooves at the center and both sides in the top surface of a plug, and by fitting a couple plugs with a plug having a guide mechanism corresponding to the guide groove. CONSTITUTION:At the center part and both sides on the top surface of a channel type substrate 2, a recessed part 3 provided with storage grooves 5 for storing terminals 6 of optical fibers and guide grooves 7 are provided, respectively. The fiber 6 in the recessed part 3 are fixed by a lid body 4 by using an adhesive, etc. A couple of thus constituted plugs 1 are butted mutually being fitted by an adapter 8 having guide mechanisms 10 corresponding to the guide grooves 7, in a hollow hole 9. Thus, the axis alignment of a couple of plugs is based upon the guide grooves 7, so working the storage grooves 5 and guide grooves 7 with high distance precision eliminates the need for the precision of the distance between the flanks of the fibers 1 and storage grooves 5, which is hard to obtain precision, and the axis alignment of the optical fibers 6 are performed with high precision during connection operation.
