Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the number of parts, simplify construction and facilitate assembling work by disposing a prism assembly comprising cementing two rectangular prisms via beam splitter face to a base.
CONSTITUTION: A prism assembly 14 is secured within the concave resess 13 provided in the approximate center of a base 12. This assembly 14 comprises cementing two rectangular prisms 15, 16 of the same shape via beam splitter face 17. V-grooves 18 thru 21 as guide containing grooves for guiding and containing optical fibers are provided in opposition to the surfaces 15b, 15c, 16a, 16b of each prism on the base surface 12a provided with the assembly 14. This V-groove 18 with its axial line being perpendicular to the surface 15b has an angle of 45° to the beam splitter face 17. The light signal transmitted by an optical fiber 22 and emerged from the end face enters the prism face 12b perpendicularly and falls to the beam splitter 17 with an angle of 45°.
