Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform axial alignement of a focusing type waveguide lens and an optical guide with good accuracy by disposing a reflecting mirror at the exit face of the focusing type waveguide lens and making reflected light level maximum at the time of axial alignement of both. CONSTITUTION:A focusing type waveguide lens 2 is selected of its length at 1/4 pitch and a reflecting mirror 11 is opposedly disposed to the exit face of this lens to let the incident light from an optical fiber 1 be reflected by this. The reflected light is led to a photo detector 13 by the semi-transparent mirror 12 placed on the other end side of the optical fiber 1. The relative positions of the optical fiber 1 with the lens 2 are so adjusted that the reflected light level becomes maximum, whereby the axial alignment of the lens 2 and optical fiber 1 is accomplished.
