Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the constitution and adjustment of the photo coupling part and obtain arbitrary coupling quantity with low loss by aligning the light passing end faces of optical fibers for main line and branch on the same plane and butting the structural bodies of parallel optical axes at the respective end faces. CONSTITUTION:The respective cores of main fibers 11, 14 and branch fibers 12, 13 are aligned of their light passing end faces 17, 18 on the respective same plane and their optical fiber axes are set mutually paralle. Further their end faces 17 and 18 are butted and are so set as to have minute axial misalignments. The structural bodies of the fibers 11, 12 and the structural bodies of the fibers 14, 13 are mechanically fixed by a transparent curable resin 19 having a refractive index small than that of the fiber core 16, acting as the clad of the core 16. The light signal from the fiber 11 is coupled to the fibers 14 and 13 and the light signal from the fiber 14 to the fibers 11 and 12.
