PURPOSE:To attain a lowered loss and improved work efficiency and make a connector fit for mass production by arranging an optical lens and an optical fiber holding capillary at the center of a plug. CONSTITUTION:In hollow cylindrical plug 7 spherical lens 8 and capillary 9 are set so that the center of lens 8 and that of capillary 9 are allowed to coincide with each other. Capillary 9 is cylindrical and has fine hole 10 made at the center in the axial direction. Naked part 11 of covered optical fiber 12 is inserted in hole 10. When fiber 11 is fixed at the focus position of lens 8, plug 7 becomes centered. By mutually plug 7, e.g. into hollow cylindrical sleeve 14, fiber 11 can be connected.
