Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the coupler removable and enable the replacement of semiconductor elements and the connection change of optical fibers to be readily accomplished by beforehand adjusting the semiconductor element and optical fiber as to position on the central axis by means of supports. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 1 is beforehand adjusted and fixed so as to come to the center of a plug 8 being the first support. A semiconductor element 10 is beforehand adjusted and fixed in a cylindrical support 11 being the second support that its light emitting part or receiving part comes to the center of the support 11. The holes 9, 12 are so made that their centers fit precisely respectively to the plug 8 and support 11 and exist on the same axis and therefore the insertion of the plug 8 and support 11 into the holes 9, 12 results in that the optical fiber 1 and semiconductor element 10 are coupled with good efficiency.
