Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliabiity, by providing an optical fiber holding plate, where trapezoidal grooves are formed, on a substrate and bringing the surface of an optical fiber, which is inserted and mounted in the trapezoidal groove, into contact with the substrate to conform end faces of optical fibers to each other with a high precision. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber holding plate 13 provided with, for example, three trapezoidal grooves 12 is caused to adhere onto a ceramic substrate 11 by an adhesive, and an optical fiber 14 is inserted and provided in the groove 12. A stopper plate 15 consisting of stainless steel is put on these optical fibers 14 and is caused to adhere to them, and the optical fiber connector consisting of the substrate 11, the holding plate 13, and the stopper plate 15 is fitted in an optical fiber arrangement base 16 having a recess form. Similarly, another connector consisting of the substrate 11, the holding plate 13, and the stopper plate 15 is stored in the arrangement base 16, and end faces of optical fibers face to each other and are conformed to each other respectively.
