Abstract
PURPOSE: To save operating work and enhance reliability by a method wherein intake, cooling, fuel and lubrication systems of the engine are heated through a heat-transmitting medium by the heat supplied from a heat source utilizing the heat of a chemical reaction.
CONSTITUTION: Passages 22 for the heat-transmitting medium are provided to communicate to the intake, cooling, lubrication and other systems of the engine, and a heating part 30 is provided by which the medium circulated through the passages is heated at the time of starting at low temperature. The heating part 30 is provided with a heat generating vessel 31 for mixing at least two substances such as CaO and H2O which undergo a chemical reaction accompanied by generation of heat. With an ignition key thrown in, a motor pump 36 is immediately driven by a signal fed from a control circuit 26 and water B in a tank 33 is fed into the vessel 31, followed by the exothermic reaction of the two substances. The heat of reaction is given to the heat-transmitting medium at the heating part 30, and the medium is fed under pressure through the passages 22 by the pump 32 to heat each part of the systems. Accordingly, starting of the engine at low temperature in a cold place or the like is accelerated and the fuel for warming-up is saved.
