Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy conductor having enhanced heat resistance without lowering the electric conductivity by specifying the composition, rolling conditions, drawing rate and heat treating conditions of a heat resistant Al-Zr alloy ingot.
CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy consisting of 0.10W0.16% Zr, 0.08W0.2% Fe, 0.04W 0.1% Si and the balance Al with ordinary impurities is refined, continuously cast, and rolled. While cooling the resulting ingot, rolling is started at 500W400°C, and the ingot is reduced by ≥40% to homogenize the contained Zr before the temp. reaches 300°C. ≥60% Reduction is continuously applied from 300°C to 60°C to form a work hardened rough wire. This rough wire is cold drawn by ≥60%, further hardened, and heat treated at 220W300°C for 0.5W12hr. By this method an Al alloy conductor with enhanced electric conductivity and heat resistance is obtd.
