Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an Al alloy conductor having excellent high conductivity, strength and heat resistance by a method wherein Fe is added to an Al-Zr type alloy in an amount of specific relation with Zr and Si is limited as well as continuous cast rolling and continuous wire drawing process are specified.
CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy containing 0.004W0.05% Zr and 0.05W0.20% Fe, wherein Zr and Fe are contained in an amount satisfying formula, and 0.07% or less Si and comprising the remainder Al and inevitable impurities is continuously cast at a speed of 0.1W30m/min. The rolling of this cast Al alloy is initiated at 350W550°C and finished at 100W300°C to obtain a roughly draw wire by processing of 65% processing ratio or more. In this continuous wire drawings process, the temp. of a base material during wire drawing is cooled to 150°C or less and the processing with 40% or more processing ratio is carried out. The aforementioned quantitative relation of Zr and Fe is in the region surrounded by aWd and Si impurity is limited because Si lowers conductivity. Casting and rolling are carried out under such a condition that forced solid solution amount during casting of Zr and Fe is controlled and hot rolling is carried out so as not to precipitate Zr and Fe to be cooled to a room temp. and reduction of heat resistance is prevented by heat generation during wire drawing.
