Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al alloy conductor with superior electric conductivity and strength by specifying the blending ratio of an Al-Mg-Si alloy, adding Fe and Cu, and subjecting the resulting alloy to continuous casting and rolling while regulating the rolling temp. and reduction ratio.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting of, by wt., 0.3W1.0% Mg, 0.3W0.8% Si, 0.15W0.8% Fe, 0.005W0.2% Cu, and the balance Al and impurities is continuously cast, hot rolled at 350W500°C and ≥15% reduction ratio, and further hot rolled at ≥40% reduction ratio while heating to 450W580°C at 1W200°C/sec heating rate. The hot rolled plate is then rapidly cooled and continuously rolled by warm rolling at ≤370°C and/or cold rolling at 20W95% reduction ratio so that the temp. is adjusted to 300W80°C at the end of the rolling. By this method an Al alloy conductor with high electric conductivity and strength is obtd. at a low cost.
