Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an Al alloy for transmission/distribution line having good conductivity and heat resistance by a method wherein the Al alloy including Fe, Si and Zr is cast at a specific solidification rate, hot-processed to give rough-drawn wire, heat treated, cold processed, and then heat treated.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy is prepared which consists of Fe: 0.07W0.7%, Si: 0.02W 0.1%, Zr: 0.25% and minor impurities included in electric Al base material, and the remaining Al. This alloy solidification starts with 720W870°C and ends with 660°C. The alloy is cast at a rate of greater than 20°C/sec to allow Zr to be distributed as solid solution. While the solidified ingot maintains a temperature between 550W400°C, it is hot processed into roughdrawn wire under a 80% or more of draft. The rough drawn wire is heat treated at 250W550°C, and cold processed under 70% or more, then the obtained strand is heat treated at 200W500°C to produce the object conductive Al alloy.
