Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled conductor without deterioration in electric conductivity and strength, by hot processing an Al alloy containing Zr, Fe and Si and then by wire drawing-processing the resulting roughly drawn wire on specific conditions twice before and after the cooling-treatment of the wire.
CONSTITUTION: An Al alloy comprising 0.01W0.8% Zr, 0.07W0.80% Fe, 0.03W 0.30% Si and the remainder of Al and ordinary impurities is hot processed to be transformed into rougly drawn wire. The roughly drawn wire is subjected to continuous wire drawing processing having an area reduction ratio of 60% or more and then the wire that is heated by the wire drawing processing is cooled to under 120°C. Subsequently, the wire is subjected to wire drawing processing having an area reduction ratio of 5% or more through one pass. The method can result in marked improvement in heat resistance of the Al alloy conductor without deterioration in its strength and electric conductivity.
