Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the org. matters contained in raw water of large contents of hydrogencarbonate ions with good efficiency by treating the whole or part of raw water in an H type cation exchange resin tower, then adding a flocculant to the treated water thereby flocculating the contained org. matters.
CONSTITUTION: The whole or part of raw water 1 contg. a large amount of org. matters and hydrogencarbonate ions is beforehand treated in an H tower 2 packed with an H type cation exchange resin. Thence, a flocculant 3 and an auxiliary flocculant, if necessary, are added to the treated water, and the org. matters are flocculated and removed in a flocculation settling device 4. Next, the supernatant liquid is filtered with a filter device 5, and the filtrate is passed successively in an ion exchange desalting device consisting of a K tower 6, a decarbonation tower 7, and an A tower 8, whereby desalted water is obtained. Both of strong acidic cation exchange resins and weak acidic cation exchange resins are usable for the cation exchange resin used in the H tower 2.
