Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce a load on a cation exchange resin in a process of extracting from a waste acid water which is free from salts and capable of reuse, and to facilitate complete adsorption of metal ions from the acid, by preparatively desalinating and deacidifying the waste acid sufficiently.
CONSTITUTION: A waste acid containing metal ions is deacidified to a pH at which any metal hydroxide can not deposit. The treated acid, i.e., having a relatively low acidity, is carried through a strongly acidic cation exchange resin to completely adsorb metal ions. Thereafter, the acid is deacidified again.
