PURPOSE:To produce a plated steel plate of good quality at a high speed by holding the mutual positions and diameters of a pair of snap rolls in a continuous hot dipping device for steel strips in a specific relation and using a crown roll for at least one of these rolls. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip is introduced through a snout 2 into hot dipping metal 3 such as Zn or Al, is changed of direction by way of a sink roll 4, is passed through a pair of snap rolls 91, 92, is led to the outside of a plating bath 3, and is adequately controlled of the coating weight of plating by gas wiping with nozzle 6. In this case, the roll 92 contacting the steel strip surface in contact with the roll 4 out of a pair of the snap rolls 91, 92 is deviated of position lower than the other roll 91, and the relation of d1>=d2 is provided between the diameter d1 of the roll 91 and the diameter d2 of the roll 92. One or both of the rolls 91, 92 are made into crown rolls 1. A plated steel plate of uniform thickness of the plating layer is produced at a high speed.
