Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent molten zinc deposition on guide roller and to prevent non- plated surface of steel strip from getting dirty by a method wherein the surface of guide roller is coated by projecting material hardly wet with molten metal, then coated surface is polished and adjusted. CONSTITUTION:The method is applied to operation of non-side molten galvanizing equipment in which a running steel strip is guided through guide rollers on the surface of molten zinc plating bath so that one-side of the belt contacts elevated molten zinc under non-oxidizing or reducing atmosphere. The surface of the guide rollers is coated by projecting material hardly wet with moltn zinc, such as chromium oxide, and zirconium oxide in 50-2,000mu thickness. Then, the coated surface is polished and adjusted to a surface roughness of 2.5mu Ra or less. The method allows easy removal of deposited material from the roller by blowing non-oxidizing gas onto the roller surface from wiping nozzle. This also is effective in preventing non-plated steel strip from getting dirty.
