Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the accuracy of controlling the plating thickness of a steel strip by spraying a pressurized gas upon both sides of the plated strip at an upper portion of wiping nozzles to regulate movement in the through thickness direction of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A base material steel strip is dipped in molten metal bath MB, and adhered molten metal is wrung out of hot dipped steel strip GS with snap rolls SNR. A pressurized gas is sprayed upon both sides of strip GS from wiping nozzles WN set opposite to each other in a region over rolls SNR to give a predetermined hot dipping thickness. The distance between nozzles WN, the vertical position of nozzles WN and the vol. of the gas sprayed are controlled with wiping nozzle controllers WNC. A refrigerant is then sprayed with spangles controlling units SP set over nozzles WN to force the molten metal to solidify, thereby uniformly adjust spangles.
