Abstract

PURPOSE:To carry out high-speed plating easy of controlling the amount of plating metal to be supplied, by spraying a molten metal onto a steel-strip surface in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and then uniformizing a plating film by means of static pressure fluid by which surface pressure is applied. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 1 is introduced into a heating zone 2 to undergo the removal of organic matter at the surface by means of combustion or evaporation and then introduced into a reduction zone 3 to undergo heating in succession, by which the steel-strip surface in which an oxide film at the steel-strip surface is reduced is cleaned into a state suitable for plating. Subsequently, the steel strip is introduced into a plating chamber 4, where the direction of advance of the steel strip is vertically changed via a turn roll 9 and then a plating metal or alloy is sprayed onto the above steel strip by the desired coating weight by means of spray nozzles 5, 6. The spray-coated steel strip is passed between static-pressure fluid pads 7, 8 while the plating metal or alloy is in an unsolidified state, by which the above plating metal or alloy is uniformized on the steel strip in a short time by means of the resulting surface pressure and is solidified after introduced into the outside of the plating chamber.
