Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the appearance of a hot dipped side of a steel strip by running the strip on the protruded surface of a molten metal bath for hot dipping kept in a nonoxidizing or reducing atmosphere to stick molten metal to one side of the strip and feeding the strip into the air to wipe off excess molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Part of the surface of molten metal bath 2 for hot dipping in atmospheric gas cover 4 filled with a nonoxidizing or reducing gas introduced from feed nozzles 7 is protruded with electromagnetic pump 3. Steel strip 5 is run in contact with the protruded part to stick much molten metal to one side of strip 5, and strip 5 is fed into the air without solidifying the molten metal in cover 4. By spraying a high pressure gas from gas spray nozzle 8, excess molten metal is wiped off.
