Abstract

PURPOSE: To hold a strip material at a fixed position and to uniformalize the thickness of an applied film, by locating support rolls, provided with circular grooves to drop off an excess amount of a swept treating agent, just below squeeze nozzles to sweep an excess amount of the treating agent adherent to the strip material.
CONSTITUTION: A strip material 1 such as a steel strip is introduced into a molten metal bath 2, e.g. molten zinc, as a treating agent, carried toward the surface of the bath through a sink roll 3, to be coated with the metal during its passage, and then raised from the bath through a space between a couple of pinch rolls 4 located on the surface of the bath 2. The strip 1 fed out through the pinch rolls 4 is supported with a couple of support rolls 9 provided with a plurality of discs 11 put side by side in intervals with spacers 12, and fed toward air-squeeze nozzles 5 under a stabilized condition. Accordingly, the thickness of the film applied to the workpiece can be uniformalized.
