Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively utilize the waste heat from an engine and exhaust pipes and increase the heating capacity by a method wherein the change-over circuit, which communicate a chiller type cooling and heating water passage with a cooling water passage, is provided to allow to circulate the water used for heat exchange in the cooling water passage through the cooling and heating water passage as occasion demands.
CONSTITUTION: The change-over circuit 15 is formed by providing a three-way valve 24 and branch pipe 25 at the center of the through pipe 11 of the chiller type cooling and heating water passage 14 to communicate with the through-pipe 16 of the cooling water passage 19 and a three-way valve 26. When the three-way valves 24 and 26 are changed-over to the side of the change-over circuit 15 for heating operation, the water used for heat exchange in the cooling water passage 19, which absorbs the waste heat from the engine 1 and the exhaust pipes 2, joins the hot water in the cooling and heating water passage 14 through the change-over circuit 15 as indicated with the two-dot-and-dash line arrows, resulting in obtaining satisfactory heating effect and effectively utilizing the waste heat from the engine 1 and the exhaust pipes 2.
