Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heating efficiency of the heating apparatus in utilization of the engine cooling water by constituting the captioned apparatus so that a combustion system heating circuit is branched through a four-way valve and a four-way joint in the cooling water circulation passage between an engine and a heater core and switching of said four-way valve is executed according to the temperature of the cooling water. CONSTITUTION:If the temperature of the engine cooling water is below a prescribed value, a four-way valve 14 is switched through a controller 23 by the signal of a temperature detector 22, and the cooling water in the first circulation passage 13 flows through a four-way joint 16, bypass 19, comubustion system heater 17, and the four-way valve 14, and the temperature of the cooling water is raised, and the engine warming time can be shortened. During this time, the second circulation passage 25 is in rest. When the temperature reaches a pre- scribed value, the four-way valve 14 is restored, and the circulation passage 13 and a pipe 15 or the bypasses 19 and 21 communicate respectively, and the cooling water which is heated by the combustion system heater 17 through the circulation passage 25 is supplied into the heater core 20 of an auxiliary heater independently in each passage. Thus, the heating efficiency and the performance of the heater in direct utilization of cooling water can be improved.
