Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of mist in sampling piping and to enable to detect sodium with high sensitivity, by heating gas or keeping gas warm in the sampling piping. CONSTITUTION:An atmospheric gas surrounding a cooling piping 1 is always absorbed by a pump 3 and is sent to a sodium ionization detector 4 passing through a sampling piping 12 and then, the concentration of sodium in the gas is detected. All of housing parts of the piping 12 and detector 4, are kept warm by covering by a heat insulating material 13. Also, the sampling gas is heated when the gas is passed through a vessel 14 provided with a heater 15 and mist generated by condensation is reevaporated in this part. An input electric current 18 of the heater 15 is controlled by a temperature regulator 17 by indication of a thermocouple 16. Hereby, the generation of mist of sodium vapor in the piping 12 is prevented and the sensitivity of detection can be improved.
