Abstract

PURPOSE:To heighten output and reduce size, by housing a cylinder, which contains a circular rotor that eccentrically rotates in an elliptic combustion chamber, in an accessory cylinder so that the cylinder can be reciprocated in a horizontal direction and two combustion chambers are defined by the single circular rotor. CONSTITUTION:When a circular rotor 5 is rotated clockwise centering a main shaft 1 in a state shown in the drawing, a cylinder 6 is moved down in an accessory cylinder 9. Through an intake valve 12 opened at that time, a mixture is sucked into a combustion chamber 19 at the right of the rotor 5 through an accessory combustion chamber 16. When the rotor 5 is rotated by about 90 deg., the cylinder 6 starts moving up. When the rotor 5 is rotated by about 180 deg., the cylinder 6 returns to the original position and a compression process starts. The mixture compressed in the process is introduced into the accessory combustion chamber 16. When the rotor 5 has begun its second rotation, the mixture is burned through ignition by a spark plug 11. After that, combustion gas is discharged through an exhaust valve 13. Such action is caused in the right and left sections of the cylinder 6 to obtain output.
