Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a rotating apparatus having a high sealing performance, in which a cylindrical rotor is disposed eccentrically in a casing having a cylindrical inner surface and the space in the housing is divided into two sections by a movable sealing member the top of which is held in sliding contact with the outer surface of said rotor.
CONSTITUTION: When rotor 12 mounted eccentrically on output shaft 23 is located at the position shown in the drawing, space A defined by the inner surface of casing 11, outer surface of rotor 12, sealing member 30 and contact piece 16 increases its volume gradually along with rotation of rotor 12 and air-fuel mixture is introduced from intake port 61 into the space A. Supply of mixture is completed while rotor 12 causes almost one full turn, and then mixture thus intoroduced into space A is compressed along with rotation of rotor 12. When valve 65 at exhaust port 64 is opened, mixture thus compressed is supplied via connecting pipe 70 into a work chamber in lower output section 50. In this work chamber, mixture is ignited and exploded by ignition plug and causes rotation of rotor 52.
