Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled substance economically in high yield, by adding caustic potash or its mixture with caustic soda to a dibenzofuran, and reacting them in the presence of oxygen, air or an oxygen-containing compound, etc. as a catalyst with stirring under pressure at a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: Caustic potash or its mixture with caustic soda in a molar amount of 2W4 times that of dibenzofuran (DBF) is added to the DBF, and reacted in the presence of oxygen, air or an oxygen-containing compound as a catalyst, with stirring under pressure at 250W350°C to give the titled substance. Ab inorganic peroxide, inorganic or organic salt of sulfur oxyacid, oxidizing inorganic salt, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, sodium sulfite or sodium hypochlorite, may be cited as the oxygen-containing compound, and the amount thereof to be added is suitably 0.5W20wt% based on DBF.
USE: A raw material for agricultural chemicals, medicines, lubricating oil additives, synthetic high polymers, etc.
