CONSTITUTION:A series winding 7 of the series transformer 6 is connected to a secondary winding 3 of a main transformer, and both terminals U and V thereof become output terminals. Fixed contact points C1 and C2 of the polarity changer 11A and 11B are connected to one end of a coarse tap winding 4. Fixed contact points D1 and D2 are also connected to the other end of the winding 4. A movable contact point A of the changer 11A is connected to one end of the exciting winding 8. A movable point B of the changer 11B is connected to both ends of the close tap winding 5 through the polarity changer 10 of the on-load tap changer 9. The other end of the winding 8 is connected to the taps of the winding 5 through the changer 9. The effective winding ratio of the winding 4 and the winding 5 is made to be approximately 2:1. In this way, the part between the maximum voltage and the minimum voltage can be continuously adjusted in 3(N2+1) steps, where N2 is the number of effective taps of the winding 5.
