Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steel plate of a low aging index and superior aging resistance with slight reheating energy in the stage of winding a steel strip heated to its recrystallization temp. or above on a roll, and quickly cooling the same then subjecting the strip to an overaging treatment by heating the strip by specifying the quick cooling temp. and performing the overaging treatment. CONSTITUTION:After a steel strip is heated to about 600-850 deg.C, it is wound on a cooled roll in contact therewith and is quickly cooled down to 200-350 deg.C. It is heated to a temp. lower than 400 deg.C which is an overaging treatment temp., and is overaged. Here, the reason for setting the lower limit temp. of the cooling at 200 deg.C lies in the purposes of reducing the energy required for the next reheating and effecting the deposition of a solid soln. C efficiently in a short time. The upper limit is set at 350 deg.C because the degree of oversaturation of the C does not increase so much. More specifically, it is the upper limit temp. necessary for increasing the degree of oversaturation of the C in the steel adequately and for creating the state permitting easy deposition of the C.
