Abstract
PURPOSE:To impart excellent press formability comparable to that obtained by batch annealing, by performing simultaneous quenching and strain developing of cold rolled steel sheet having been recrystallization-annealed with a water-cooled roll, then by overaging the steel sheet while cooling slowly. CONSTITUTION:Cold-rolled steel sheet is heated rapidly from room temp. T0 to a temp. T1 which is not lower than the recrystallization temp. so as to perform recrystallization-annealing. The recrystallized steel sheet is quenched at 50-500 deg.C/sec cooling rate C2 by passing it between plural water-cooled rolls, at the same time 0.2-3% strain is imparted to the steel sheet. That is, the oversaturation of solid soln. carbon is increased at the step, and dislocation is introduced by strain, and the overaging time is reduced by the quick decrease in carbide and solid soln. carbon which precipitates during overaging process. Then the steel sheet having been imparted with strain is slowly cooled continuously or stepwise so as to overage it. The slow-cooling rate from the starting temp. T5 of overaging to the final temp. T6 (250-400 deg.C) of the overaging is set at 10-100 deg.C/min, and the overaging may be completed in about 2-8min.
