Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a cold rolled steel strip with superior workability and aging resistance in spite of short overaging time by carrying out specific heat treatment prior to overaging in continuous annealing of a cold rolled steel strip at a temp. above the recrystallization temp. and below the A3 transformation point. CONSTITUTION:A 0.8 mm thick cold rolled steel strip is annealed in a continuous annealing apparatus at a temp. between the recrystallization temp. and the A3 transformation point. At this time, the strip is held at T2 deg.C between 400-500 deg.C for 10 sec-1 min and cooled from the temp. to T1 deg.C between 300 deg.C-T2 deg.C at a cooling rate above 50 deg.C/sec. The strip is then held at T1 deg.C for t1 sec satisfying equation 4.36-0.0122T1<=log t1<=1, followed by reheating to T2 deg.C and overaging. Otherwise, prior to overaging due to slow cooling from T2 deg.C at a cooling rate above 100 deg.C/min for 10 sec-1 min, the strip is cooled from the above heating temp. to T1 deg.C at a cooling rate above 50 deg.C/sec, held at T1 deg.C for t1 sec, and reheated to T2 deg.C.
