Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture the steel strip having a least strain aging propety even if quenching after overaging treatment, by carring out the overaging treatment in two specific steps, at the time of carrying out continuous annealing of low carbon cold rolled steel strip. CONSTITUTION:Low carbon cold rolled steel strip uncoiled from the payoff reel 1, heated higher than the recrystallization temperature at the heating zone 6 of continuous annealing furnace. The above strip is cooled to 500 deg.C or less at the cooling zone 8 by the gas jet cleaning process after heating uniformly in the soaking zone 7 and next, is kept at 350-500 deg.C for twenty seconds in the primary overaging zone 9. Then, the strip is cooled to 50 deg.C or less at the cooling speed of 50 deg.C or less at the cooling speed of 50 deg.C/sec. or more in the cooling part 11 after cooling slowly to 250- 330 deg.C at the cooling speed of 2-10 deg.C/sec. in the secondary overaging zone 10 and carrying out the secondary overaging treatment. The above cooling is carried out by a spray of cold water or dipping in cold water and oxidation of the strip surface is prevented and also, rising of atmosphere dew point of the zone 10 is prevented. Lastly, the strip having the same low aging property and mechanical property as usual slow cooling, is manufactured passing through the skin-pass roller 15.
