Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a steel plate of high surface quality by heat treating a low- carbon cold rolled steel plate under a specified condition and thereby eliminating formation of oxide during the process of heating. CONSTITUTION:The cold rolled steel plate is soaked for >=10sec within a temperature range of Ac3 point from the recrystallization temperature in the nonoxidizing atmosphere using a radiant heat heating furnace. Next, the steel plate is quenched by immersing in a refrigerant of water. Then, the plate is taken out and reheated to 350-500 deg.C and overaged for >=30sec in a nonreducing atmosphere. The overaged steel is cooled and pickled to clean the surface of the plate. By this method, the formation of oxide on the surface of the steel plate is eliminated and the adhesion of oxide to the roll is prevented. Thus, pickling process can be made simple and a steel plate of good surface quality is obtained.
