Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the combustion of an intake mixture, by providing a residual gas passage for connecting a residual gas takeout port opened into the working chamber of an ignited casing and a residual gas discharge port opened into the intake line of an unignited casing, to each other, to prevent the dilution of the intake mixture. CONSTITUTION:The orotor 13 in an unignited casing is supported on an eccentric shaft 5 so that a phase differnce of 180 deg. is set between the rotor 4 in an always ignited casing. A residual gas takeout port 14 opened into the working chamber 6a of the always ignited cylinder, which is located at the intake and exhaust top dead center of the rotor 4, and a residual gas discharge port 15 opened into the intake line of the unignited casing are connected to each other through a residual gas passage 16. In operation by only the always ignited casing, a valve 18 is always open so that the residual gas in the casing is introduced into the intake-process working chamber 6d of the unignited casing through the residual gas takeout port 14, the residual gas passage 16 and the residual gas discharge port 15. the residual gas in the always ignited casing is thus decreased to prevent the intake mixture from being diluted.
