Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve machining precision and the coating precision of a resist mask by forming track width regulating grooves after molding nonmagnetic materials in grooves formed in a plate of a ferromagnetic material at intervals wider than track width. CONSTITUTION:In the gap formation surface of a core plate 2 made of a ferromagnetic material, grooves 3 are formed at intervals wider than track width and after nonmagnetic materials are molded in those grooves 3, the surface is polished into a specular surface. On this gap formation surface, a photoresist mask 7 is formed and electrolytic etching is performed by using said mask 4 to form track-width regulating grooves 5. After the mask 4 is removed, a winding groove 1 is formed in the gap formation surface and glass for gap-length regulation is provided by sputtering and cut into block cores 6 and 6', which are heated and bonded to opposite blocks.
