Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the working accuracy for the track width, by giving the channeling process to minimize the floating extent of the head, the shoulder cutting for the winding and the forming the auxiliary channel to improve the long wavelength property each before carrying out the track width processing through the ion etching method. CONSTITUTION:For the working of the monolithc ferrite head used for the magnetic disk device or the like, mask-use metal thin film 14 is coated on the opposing surface of the magnetic medium of core block 13 to which the processes are applied for gap 11 and coil winding window 12. And mask 15 is formed by the photoetching method. Then channel 18 is formed to minimize the floating extent of the head along with the shoulder cutting given to facilitate the winding through the grinding and laser working methods each. Thus warping 6 of the crystal at the aquare part and microcrack 7 of the channel part can be avoided to prevent the drop-off of the crystal chip in head actuating time. As a result, both the durability and the reliability can be enhanced for the magnetic head.
