Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the influence of a diamagnetic field when a 'Permalloy(R)' film to become the core of a thin film magnetic head is formed by frame plating by regulating the shape of the track part of the 'Permalloy(R)' film, and at the same time, impressing an external magnetic field of the direction of a track width. CONSTITUTION:A substrate film 2 is formed by covering and making adhere the 'Permalloy(R)' film of 1000Angstrom thickness on the whole surface of the substrate 1 of ceramic or ferrite, etc., by using a sputter method, and on this film 2, a frame 3 consisting of the resist of a prescribed core shape, is formed by using a photography method. Next, the 'Permalloy(R)' film 4 is formed up to about 4 mum thick on the base part 1 excluding the frame 3 by in-magnetic- field plating. In the track part of this film 4, a domain is formed so that its direction is made into the direction of the track width. Subsequently, a resist layer 5 is formed on the permalloy film 4 surrounded by the frame 3, and by forming the core 6 of the 'Permalloy(R)' film by performing wet etching, the head core with the domain whose direction is the track width Tw is formed.
