Abstract
PURPOSE: To mass-produce magnetic heads with a gap fit for high-density recording and reproduction by selectively forming layers of a ferromagnetic material, non- magnetic material and ferromagnetic material at a specific part on a magnetic head support board in sequence.
CONSTITUTION: After the flank of material (magnetic head support board) 2 of glass, etc., provided with window hole 1 for winding is coated 3 with copper, a thin film of a ferromagnetic material (e.g., Sendust) if formed [see Fig.(a) and Fig.(b)] at a core part on one side viewed from a magnetic gap position, the surface is covered with mask 7 except a magnetic-gap formation part circumference, and a non-magnetic material (e.g., SiO2) is sputtered to form thin film 8 [see Fig. (c) and Fig.(d)]. On the entire surface where the above-mentioned process is carried out, a ferromagnetic material is sputtered to form thin film 4 [see Fig.(e)], which is mechanicall polished to form ferromagnetic material thin film 4 of desired thickness on material 2 with a gap of the non-magnetic material interposed. Then, copper coating 3 is removed by melting [see Fig.(f)] and then a sliding contact surface side is polished in a desired shape.
