Abstract

PURPOSE:To cope with a track width over board range, by providing a V-shaped groove reaching a base surface at a part of a magnetic thin film, forming a thin nonmagnetic film at least on one wall of this groove, and imbedding a magnetic thin film on the groove. CONSTITUTION:A core 2a is laminated with a sendust thin film into two layers by 10mu each with sputtering, and SiO2 is sputtered between the layers as an insulation material. The groove of a core 2b is cut with an angle of 60 deg., and SiO2, 0.5mu in the thickness being requested gap length is sputtered to the cut groove, further sendust, 20mu thick is sputtered as groove imbedding, and unnecessary film laminated on the core 2a is polished and removed until the core 2a appears. Since the gap of the gap section 3b is as small as 0.2mu in comparison with the gap section 3a, 0.5mu thick, the recording/reproducing ability with the gap section 3b is inferior to that of the 3a preferably.
