Abstract

PURPOSE: To attain high density recording, by fixing a main magnetic pole contacted with one major surface of a magnetic recording medium to a rotatable object.
CONSTITUTION: A main magnetic pole is located on a cylinder 12 in which a "Permalloy " thin film 0.3μ thick is rotatable, so that the direction of track width is orthogonal to the direction of rotation of the cylinder 12. The surface of an auxiliary magnetic pole 13 consisting of an Mn-Zn ferrite core 13a and an energizing widing 13b to the cylinder is formed to a semicylindrical curved surface having the same center as that of the cylinder so that a gap between the main magnetic pole 11 and the auxiliary magnetic pole 13 is constant. A magnetic recording medium 14 formed with a Co-Cr thin film with 0.2μ thickness and a "Permalloy " with 0.2μ thick on a polyethyleneterephthalate film is driven toward the direction 15 of rotating shaft of the cylinder 12 in contact with the cylinder 12. The main magnet pole 11 on the cylinder 12 is a pair with the auxiliary magnetic pole 13 and makes an optimum vertical recording to the film thickness of a vertical recording medium 14.
